The 4 types of Analysts

INTJ (Architect)Analysts

Imaginative and strategic thinkers, with a plan for everything

Personality Traits – Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking, Judging

Strengths – Rational, Informed, Independent, Determined, Curious, Original

Weaknesses – Arrogant, Dismissive of Emotions, Overly Critical, Combative, Socially Clueless

General Description

INTJs are one of the rarest personality types. They are capable individuals who are rational, quick-witted, detail-oriented, and can often see right through the fakeness or hypocrisy of others. Instead of slowing down and taking their time, INTJs are constantly on the move, and their minds never rest. This makes it harder for them to find others who can keep up with their fast pace and constant analysis of their surroundings.

INTJs are also skeptical beings who prefer discovering things independently rather than following conventional ideas, often unafraid of breaking the rules. They are independent, driven to succeed, and determined to reach their goals; it does not matter who tries to stand in their way. INTJs prioritize rationality and success over courtesy and pleasantries and are not known to be warm individuals. Despite their “uncaring” appearance due to their “succeed at any cost” mentality, INTJs are highly emotional, especially if things go wrong or they harm others. They just choose not to base their decisions on such emotions.

As the brilliant individuals that they are, INTJs often set and achieve various challenging goals. Sometimes, individuals with these personalities are called “nerds” in school, but rather than letting this negatively affect them, and they choose to embrace it. Their thirst for knowledge motivates them to learn numerous topics that interest them. They also assume that others are simply mediocre and unimaginative. Despite this, they still crave social interactions, so they will try to find others who share the same values and priorities as they do – other INTJs, perhaps.

Romantic Relationships

INTJs tend to approach romantic relations similarly to how they would approach other challenges – rationally, strategically, and with clear-cut goals and a plan for achieving them. However, the issue here is that love and romance are hardly ever rational. This puts INTJs at risk of misinterpreting or overlooking the unpredictability of human nature, love, and affection.

As INTJs often think about how the world could be better than it is, it could be more difficult for them to find a compatible partner. They usually apply this mindset of “things can be better” to romance. Due to their mindset, INTJs tend to be overly critical of potential partners and may find themselves constantly dissatisfied. To them, relationships without depth, intelligence, and absolute honesty are not worth pursuing. Dating could be especially difficult for INTJs as they dislike playing games in relationships, which in some cases could increase the closeness as well as intimacy between partners.

INTJs tend to think about love rather than express it. And typical acts of romance such as giving flowers or writing lovey-dovey notes are just not their thing. For these individuals, becoming comfortable with their partner’s emotions and their own could take some practice. It may take some time, but eventually, when these INTJs mature and gain experience, they might start to understand these romantic rituals better. Otherwise, these individuals simply find dating irrational or beneath them because of their “intellectual superiority”. A tip for individuals with these personalities is to focus on things they enjoy instead of struggling against these conventional dating rules.

Friendships

To put it simply, INTJs might not be everyone’s cup of tea due to their sharp wit and darkly funny personalities. They are very selective about who they choose to spend their time and energy on, and it could take some time to get to know them. INTJs are also not too concerned about being popular. Yet we should not simply label them as antisocial or unfriendly because this is far from true. Even though INTJs enjoy their own company, they also crave social interactions and meaningful conversations with friends.

INTP (Logician)Analysts

Innovative inventors with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge

Personality Traits – Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking, Prospecting

Strengths – Analytical, Original, Open-Minded, Curious, Objective

Weaknesses – Disconnected, Insensitive, Dissatisfied, Impatient, Perfectionistic

General Description:

A fairly rare personality, those with INTP personalities are knowledgeable with their unique viewing of the world. It is almost like an instinct or habit; they love pondering about the various mysteries of the world. These individuals tend to stand out from a crowd with their creativity and inventiveness. So it is not a surprise that many well-known philosophers and scientists are INTPs.

INTPs hardly ever stop thinking and often lose themselves in thought. Their minds are full of ideas, questions, and curiosities about the world around them. Something they particularly enjoy is their alone time. At this time, they can consult their thoughts and think about their ideas and endless possibilities. To others, it may seem like these INTPs are constantly daydreaming, seemingly unfriendly, uptight, and detached from those around them. Yet it is essential to note that once these INTPs meet someone equally inquisitive, who matches their mental capacity, they get excited, and conversations flow naturally.

Romantic Relationships:

In general, INTPs seem highly reserved. It may take some time, but their hidden, playful and creative side will start to show once they are comfortable. Even though INTPs are introverts, they still crave affection and companionship. As these personalities are highly intelligent and curious, they need someone to match their energy, someone who challenges their ideas from time to time. An INTP’s primary goal is to learn and grow, so they will hope that their partners will not only share this goal but also encourage it.

It takes time for INTPs to warm up to someone, and sometimes these personalities are also a little reluctant to head out to meet new people. Even when they are interested in someone, it could take a while before they work up the courage to ask them out, as INTPs tend to fear rejection. Yet, once they meet the one, they take it seriously and will not take this relationship for granted.

Friendships:

INTPs look for companionship and support from their friends. Still, they deem one more aspect important in such friendships: intellectual depth. And because of this, INTPs might not be able to vibe with and establish a connection with every person they meet. Although, as a friend, INTPs tend to be lively individuals who always have something interesting to say. INTPs tend to have friendships based on knowledge and the exchange of ideas. Their friends are people who would share their passion for new ideas, riddles, and solutions. However, they also appreciate it when those around them challenge their views from time to time. These INTPs are also highly intuitive and can spot discrepancies a mile away, so if you’re thinking of lying to them, bad idea.

When it comes to everyday challenges met by their friends, INTPs are often eager to help, especially when they can offer a logical or rational solution. Yet, as INTPs feel most comfortable in logic and rationality, things like human nature and emotions tend to leave these individuals puzzled. They may want to offer emotional support to their friends and loved ones but, in most cases, are unsure of how to do so. And because they are unable to find the perfect solution, they end up not doing anything at all.

ENTJ (Commander)Analysts

Bold, imaginative and strong-willed leaders, always finding a way – or making one

Personality Traits – Extraverted, Intuitive, Thinking, Judging

Strengths – Efficient, Energetic, Self-Confident, Strong-Willed, Strategic Thinkers, Charismatic and Inspiring

Weaknesses – Stubborn and Dominant, Intolerant, Impatient, Arrogant, Poor Handling of Emotions, Cold and Ruthless

General Description:

ENTJs are natural-born leaders. They are confident and charismatic individuals who project authority in a way that entices others to reach for a common goal. Yet, ENTJs are also characterized by an often ruthless level of rationality, drive, and determination.

These individuals love challenges and believe that all is achievable with ample time and resources. This trait makes them exceptional entrepreneurs. Their determination, precision, and ability to think strategically allow them to take steps while keeping their long-term goals in mind. They might seem dominant, relentless, and unforgiving at times, but this is usually because they love challenges and enjoy a battle of wits from time to time.

ENTJs also have a unique ability to recognize their talents, which helps them tremendously when trying to assemble a team. Although, they also tend to call others out for their mistakes, not to mention with potentially cruel insensitivity. They distance themselves from their emotions, especially in public or professional settings. To them, emotions are a sign of weakness, and displaying emotions makes it easier to make enemies. Suppose these ENTJs see someone they think is inefficient, incompetent, or lazy. In that case, they will not think twice before crushing their sensitivities.

Romantic Relationships:

Similar to how they approach other aspects of their lives, ENTJs approach their relationships with goals and a plan on how to achieve them, exerting high levels of enthusiasm and energy. ENTJs also tend to be eager to take up leading roles in their relationship, working hard to ensure a successful and mutually satisfying experience. They try to keep things fresh and exciting by planning new activities on their agendas, especially in the dating phase. However, as ENTJs always keep their long-term goals in mind, they might choose to end a relationship and minimize costs if it seems like the relationship will not last long.

ENTJs can sometimes be a little ruthless in relationships due to their personalities. And if they are not careful, this could result in numerous consequences in their love lives. Sensing the emotions of others and empathy might not be a strong skill of ENTJs. Still, they must learn to improve this to better their relationships and establish healthier emotional expression. Failure to do so might lead to the domination and overruling of their partners. And their insensitivity could easily ruin their relationships as well, especially if the connection is pretty new.

Friendships:

ENTJs seek personal growth and inspiration, and they often have a plan for how to achieve it. This logic applies to their friendships as well. They want friendships built on meaningful conversations with individuals who have a passion for learning and growing, just like they do. Those that can match the energy of ENTJs to analyze and conceptualize are likely to find an honest and dedicated friend. However, as ENTJs are smart yet critical and highly defensive, they also tend to challenge their friends. They question their opinions while dismissing emotional arguments as irrelevant. With this, a trait that ENTJs could learn would be their emotional sensitivity towards others.

ENTP (Debater)Analysts

Smart and curious thinkers who cannot resist an intellectual challenge

Personality Traits – Extraverted, Intuitive, Thinking, Prospecting

Strengths – Knowledgeable, Quick Thinkers, Original, Excellent Brainstormers, Charismatic, Energetic

Weaknesses – Very Argumentative, Insensitive, Intolerant, Can Find It Difficult to Focus, Dislike Practical Matters

General Description:

The first thing to know about ENTPs is that they are quick-witted and audacious. This makes them unafraid to challenge the status quo and disagree with anyone. One of their favorite things to do that gets them excited is an intellectual debate, especially if the topics discussed are slightly controversial. ENTPs may seem disagreeable or mean-spirited on the surface, but that is not the case. Instead, individuals with the ENTP personality type are knowledgeable and inquisitive. They also have a fun sense of humor. It can be pretty enjoyable to be around them, just that they really enjoy having spirited debates occasionally – think of them as the ultimate devil’s advocate.

ENTPs are more than eager to question any belief, rule, or idea because, to them, nothing is too important or sacred for further investigation. To them, most of society is too willing to or simply blindly conform to societal norms and expectations. And for most ENTPs, instead of conforming to these norms, they cannot help but evaluate these norms, rethinking things that others might take for granted – they enjoy questioning the dominant ideals.

Individuals with ENTP personalities might also find it difficult to harness their full potential. This is because they have countless thoughts running through their minds. Sometimes it is hard to keep track of them all. And in most cases, these thoughts that ENTPs have are usually never turned into reality.

Romantic Relationships:

ENTPs are innovative beings so coming up with new ideas to keep things going is easy for individuals with this personality type. This applies to their relationships because growth is a primary goal for ENTPs. They are creative and enthusiastic, often thinking of the new experiences they could have with their partners and even potential partners and how they could grow together as a couple. An ENTP’s idea of fun is personal growth, which is why individuals with this personality enjoy testing the limits of their partners and trying to figure out their full potential.

Even though ENTPs are more open-minded compared to other Analyst personalities when it comes to listening to another perspective, they still need to work on how they express themselves. An area that ENTPs need to work on is their ability to empathize and sense the feelings of others. Sometimes they might be a little blunt when expressing themselves, which may often come off as harsh and hurtful to their partners, even if they do not realize it. In some instances, ENTPs may even ignore their partner's emotions entirely.

Friendships:

Loyalty, support, and emotional feedback are the last things that ENTPs seek in their friendships. ENTPs value having intellectual debates with their friends and would rather have a stimulating conversation. They prefer friends who point out their faults and provide logical rationale than have a friend who simply gives in without a fight. An important thing to note is the nature of these debates. Even if they get heated and both parties disagree to a large extent, ENTPs know not to harm others. They would not take the disagreements personally either. Outings are also super fun because of the unparalleled enthusiasm of ENTPs. Another interesting fact about ENTPs is that they can communicate well with other personality types. However, as ENTPs are less in tune with emotions, they tend to suppress their feelings and fail to recognize the feelings of others. Thus, they still need to work on their ability to express their emotions and empathize with others.
