What better way to understand and improve your relationships with your loved ones (whether it's your romantic partner, family, or friends) than by understanding your love language!

Our love languages are simply the different ways we express and receive love. There are five in total, and we'll be breaking them down for you in this article.

Words of Affirmation

Do you find comfort and solace in others' compliments? If yes, then this form of love language is yours to claim. To you, others' words and opinions of yourself are of utmost importance. You thrive and blossom under their good words and shatter and shrivel under the bad ones. You also make it a point to build others up by showering them with encouraging words.

Physical Touch

Do you find yourself both craving and giving touch often? If so, then you definitely fall under the class of physical touch. You who have tons of love and excitement to share, share it in the form of physical affection. To you, others' physical presence and accessibility are crucial. Without those, you may find yourself overthinking and going into a state of frenzy.

Quality Time

Do you find yourself obsessing over the time - down to the seconds - spent with others? If yes, you fit right into this form of love language. You, who show concern best by spending time with others, will clear up your schedule to make time for your loved ones. When others don't reciprocate this, then you become hurt, recluse, and avoid at all costs from meeting people.

Acts of Service

Do you find yourself going out of the way - at your expense - to help others? If yes, then this is your love language. To you, actions speak louder than words. You try your best to help others, even if it wears you out. That is why you wish to have the same treatment. When you feel like your efforts are not being reciprocated, you may feel unvalued and unloved.

Receiving Gifts

Do you find yourself racking your brains over what gifts to give your loved ones? If yes, then this love language is yours to claim. To you, love and affection take shape in tangible forms. You often ponder compulsively about what to buy for others and whether or not they will like it. As much as you love giving gifts, you love receiving them too. When you don't receive a gift you desire (or at all), then there is a high possibility that you will feel neglected.

Your love language reflects how you express love and how you'd want to receive love from others. Understanding your's and others' love language could help you gain better insights into your tendencies in your relationships and help you better connect to your loved ones.
